Industry-leading features like 16-gauge side sheets, threaded roof bows and uniquely formulated adhesives are standard in IC Bus manufacturing to maximize performance and strength and to not only meet but exceed strict federal safety standards.
IC Bus body construction is focused on strength and innovation to ensure the safest ground transportation possible for every school child, every single day. Our design objective is to meet and exceed the requirements set by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations.
Industry-unique features like the 16-gauge side sheets, which are 1.5 times thicker than the federal standard, provide greater protection for the precious cargo inside, while the 14-gauge roof bows are threaded through full-length drip rails and bow spacers and then welded together to create a single structure that adds to the strength of the body.
In addition, IC Bus body panels are attached using mechanical fasteners and further strengthened by the addition of uniquely formulated adhesive, ensuring that the connections far exceed federal requirements. The 16-gauge rub rails, which add strength to the body, are sealed to prevent moisture intrusion and corrosion, along with all of the welds on the body. The separate side sheets receive an additional primer coat for extra protection and are assembled with hard drive rivets, which are stronger and more reliable than the SPR industry-acceptable versions used by our competitors.
IC Bus products are built with quality parts by smart people to be stronger and safer than any other vehicles on the road.
