Given the precious cargo buses carry, maintenance is a critical component for any fleet. Luckily, IC Bus has a range of tools for any customer.
“Service is made simple and accessible to any of our fleet owners with OnCommand™ Service Information,” says John Thompson, dealer training manager at IC Bus. The system allows you to check vehicle warranty information, service contracts, vehicle manuals, recalls and calibration status, and also allows you to submit orders electronically to your dealer.
“One important OnCommand component is the ‘iKnow’ capability,” says Thompson. “Technicians can input keywords to search an extensive database of documented issue resolutions. If anyone, anywhere in the country has had a similar issue, that information will be there for the technician to access.”
Thompson also recommends the annual IC Bus University sessions in Tulsa. The five-day sessions include intensive overall maintenance training, plus education on air conditioning, brakes and axles, Allison transmissions and even paint. “We’ve had more than 1,000 satisfied customer technicians attend IC Bus University, and more come back every year,” says Thompson.
His final recommendation? Play it by the book. “Everything you need to know is in our comprehensive service manuals, which are available through OnCommand,” says Thompson. “Follow it and you’ll get maximum performance for a long time to come.”
