Collision Mitigation:
A Safe Solution

Safety

"At IC Bus, we understand the importance of the safety of the children riding our buses."

Trish Reed

Vice President and General Manager of IC Bus

IC Bus has made a commitment to lead the industry in both investing in future safety technology as well as making proven systems like Collision Mitigation, standard equipment on buses like the CE Series and RE Series. IC Bus is the only OEM to offer collision mitigation technology with active as well as passive safety features, helping to ensure the safe delivery of children to school and back home.

The standard Bendix® Wingman® Advanced™ Collision Mitigation system can identify metallic objects up to 500 feet in front of the vehicle through most bad weather once the bus exceeds 5 mph. In addition to providing automatic driver alerts, the technology includes adaptive cruise control, automatic braking and basic telematics data support.

The Bendix® Wingman® Fusion™ Collision Mitigation, available on CE Series employs enhanced camera technology integrated with radar that includes lane departure warnings, speeding alerts and automatic braking when stationary vehicles are detected in the vehicle’s path. The system also prioritizes alerts to mitigate driver distraction if multiple alerts occur simultaneously.

“At IC Bus, we understand the importance of safety for the children riding our school buses,” said Trish Reed, vice president and general manager of IC Bus. “For that reason, we are committed to equipping our vehicles with proven advanced technologies. Bendix ESP and Bendix Wingman Advanced offer safety advantages and added peace of mind to everyone responsible for delivering our children to their destinations.”

The CE Series integrates radar, camera and the vehicle's brakes, to help provide enhanced safety for today's North American commercial vehicles.
